Toro Electric Power Shovel Model 38361 with 7.5 Amp motor Review:
This little “snow thrower” is perfect for anyone with a small area than can’t bulldog around a heavy machine.. It’s light in weight, user-friendly, easy to use, electrically powered so just plug and go, and it is small and light enough to fit in the hall closet or preferably hang it up in the garage. It makes short work of shoveling your walk or driveway, with no strain on your back from lifting.
It throws snow 20 feet. However, it throws the snow in front of the blower so a technique similar to using an upright vacuum cleaner is required to get the snow to blow to the side. i.e., push it left, push it forward, push it right.
This Toro Power Shovel isn’t really suitable for steps unless they are wider than 12 inches.
It is recommended that you buy a low-temperature cable for use with this electric snow blower. The user manual says to use 16 gauge up to 100 feet and 14 gauge up to 150 feet and do not use a cord longer than 150 feet.
Of course, not everyone agrees that this snow blower/shovel is as wonderful, so it is only fair to point out what some see as it’s failings.
Being electric, there is a power cord trailing along the ground, and this requires careful planning, so you don’t run over it and completely ruin your day!
One disappointed owner said that if the snow is less than 6 inch, it is much easier to just use a regular snow shovel to push the snow aside and if the snow is more than 6 inch, this product won’t help anyway.
Can’t handle ice or the stuff dumped by the snow plow (my comment is that this isn’t what it is for!)
It’s no good on loose gravel!
Not good for front porch steps as it is wider than my steps
Clearly this is a small electric snow blower/shovel replacement so don’t expect to clear a ten car driveway or 4 foot of snow. If that is your requirement then you will need a large gas powered snow thrower. It is designed for light use on small spaces. Stick to that and you should be more than happy. We thoroughly recommend this tool as a back-saving, energy saving replacement for a conventional shovel.
